The history of the Ural Instrument Engineering Plan dates back to 1785, to the shop of the Old Believer peasant Tryndin, who founded his optical workshop in Moscow.
In 1918, Tryndin's factory, which produced optical, physical, geodetic instruments, surgical instruments, medical equipment, and educational visual aids, was nationalized into the «Metron» plant, then in 1936 into «Plant No. 214».
In 1941, the plant's equipment and staff were evacuated to the Urals, to Sverdlovsk, thus marking the beginning of the plant's activities.
During the Great Patriotic War Ural Instrument Engineering Plan was the main manufacturer of instruments for military aviation. Gradually, the enterprise became one of the serial plants producing gyroscopic equipment: angular velocity sensors, artificial horizons, vertical gyros and other devices that are part of the flight systems of aircraft and helicopters.
Currently, the enterprise continues to develop and scale up; the number of employees of the Ural Instrument-Making Plant is more than 1000 people.
On the basis of JSC "UIEP" there is its own R&D center for research and development - the Experimental Design Bureau of Medical Equipment (OKB MT)
The goal is to develop in-demand competitive high-quality medical products.
